2.7 A Much Appreciated Rest-Day
8/3/24 Friday
Our hotel turned out to be a mere 11-kilometer leap away from the captivating Nameri National Park & Tiger Reserve that lies across the Kameng river. Early in the morning we crossed the river in a small rowing boat, with two forest rangers as our guides. While wildlife was elusive, a two hour stroll through the beautiful jungle left us immersed in the serenity of nature's grandeur.
After indulging in a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel, we chose the luxury of a siesta over a lunch. As the sun dipped into the afternoon, a knowledgeable naturalist unveiled the botanical wonders of the property, showcasing a myriad variety of trees and plants. Amidst the greenery, the bamboo emerged as a vital lifeline that is intricately woven into the local culture.
Venturing further, we stepped into the historical Burra Bungalow, a testament to the British legacy overseeing their tea estates in Assam. The Bungalow has been very artistically restored and is now part of the hotel.
Strolling through the lush sprawling tea gardens, we were introduced to the alchemy of tea manufacturing, and the secrets of tea leaves.
The evening turned into symphony of music as two young talents took the stage, weaving a live performance of classic Hindi film songs. Their melodious voices, transported us to the golden era of cinema. The magic of their music could not stop us from dancing on the strings of old Bollywood tunes intertwined with nostalgia and joy.
Wah bhai living life among nature is the best you can have. Have a great time
